It recalls a branch of industry once being of great importanceto the town: the navigation on the Danube. The ship master was a manufacturer, operator and regulator of the Danube fleet. Mathias Feldmüller was the most famous and influential one along the entire Danube.
The Schiffmeisterhaus ranks among the most magnificent buildings. An interesting renaissance architecture is to be found under its 19th century facade. This includes a vault and stuccoed ceilings. Facing the Danube an old tower is integratedin the building.
